The focus of The Hobbit is the titular hero Bilbo Baggins, who unexpectedly has to take part in an epic mission: he should help the dwarves to regain their treasure, which the dragon Smaug is hiding on Mount Erebor. The wizard Gandalf the Gray makes a surprise appearance at Bilbo´s, and soon the hobbit accompanies the group of 13 dwarves led by the legendary warrior Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey takes them into the wilderness, through dangerous lands teeming with goblins and orcs, giant spiders, furwalkers and wizards. Though their destination is in the eastern deserts of the Lonely Mountain, they must first escape the Goblin Tunnels, where Bilbo encounters the being who will forever change his life: Gollum.
